Privacy Policy

Inquizitive turns any topic into a quiz. It has no accounts, no login and no server of my own. It contains no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, no tracking and no third-party SDK that sends data anywhere. I cannot tell whether you use the app at all.
This policy explains exactly what leaves your device, where it goes, and why.
Apple Intelligence: Private Cloud Compute and on-device
Quizzes are written by Apple Intelligence. The topic you type, your answers to the three refinement questions, and the quiz being written are processed by Apple’s Private Cloud Compute when it is available, and otherwise by the language model on your device.
Private Cloud Compute is operated by Apple. Apple states that data sent to it is used only to fulfil your request, is not retained, and is not accessible to Apple or to me. See Apple’s Private Cloud Compute overview and Apple’s privacy policy. The on-device model sends nothing anywhere.
Research with Wikipedia, Wiktionary and Wikidata
When Private Cloud Compute writes a quiz, it can look facts up so that the questions are correct and can show their sources. Your device then sends search requests to Wikipedia, Wiktionary and Wikidata, operated by the Wikimedia Foundation, Inc., 1 Montgomery Street, Suite 1600, San Francisco, CA 94104, USA.
Each request contains only the search term the model chose (for example “Punic Wars”), the language, and an app identifier (Inquizitive/
). It contains no account, no device identifier and nothing else about you. As with any web request, the Wikimedia servers see your device’s IP address. The Wikimedia Foundation’s privacy policy applies to these requests.
When you tap a source link in a quiz, the article opens in your browser, and the privacy policy of that website applies.
Your quizzes and iCloud
Your quizzes, scores and progress are stored on your device. If you are signed in to iCloud, they sync between your devices through your private iCloud database (Apple CloudKit). That storage belongs to your Apple Account: I have no access to it and receive no copy. If you don’t use iCloud, your quizzes stay on the device. Deleting the app, or deleting a quiz, removes it.
Tips and in-app purchases
The optional tips in Settings are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. I receive no payment details and no personal information about you, only anonymous sales totals from Apple.

This website
This website is a static site. It sets no cookies and uses no analytics. The hosting provider processes technical connection data (such as your IP address and the requested page) to deliver the page and keep the service secure. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
Contacting me
If you write to inquizitive@peterkurzok.de, your message and the data it contains are stored so that I can answer it. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where your request concerns a contract, otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. I keep the correspondence as long as needed to deal with your enquiry, and longer only where the law requires it.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20), and to object to processing based on legitimate interest (Art. 21). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, normally the data protection authority of the German state in which I am established.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version appears on this page with a new date at the top.
